I propose that we try to change how we refer to stim toys, by calling them stim or fidget TOOLS instead. NTs are treating them like toys, and in a way who can blame them, since toy is in the actual name? (Of course that isn’t to say that the drama around fidgets is our fault for referring to them this way, it absolutely is not.)

By calling them stim/fidget tools, it changes the meaning. They can no longer say “But it’s a fidget TOY so it’s just a toy!! You don’t /need/ a /toy/.” because we all know it’s more than a toy, it’s a tool for regulating and expressing our emotions, so why not refer to them as such?
